About Smart Draft
Who makes this, how the recommendations are produced, and what the tool can and cannot tell you.
What this site is
Smart Draft is a free drafting assistant for Brawl Stars ranked. You give it the mode, the map, and the picks and bans made so far, and it suggests which brawlers fit the slot you still have to fill. Alongside the tool, the site publishes a ranked tier list, a guide for every brawler in the game, and an explanation of how drafting actually works.
It is a fan project, not a Supercell product. Nothing here is official.
Who runs it
Smart Draft is built and maintained by one person — a sole trader registered in Denmark — who plays ranked and got tired of losing drafts that were already lost before the match started. There is no company, no team and no investor behind it.
Questions, corrections, and disagreements about tier placements are all welcome at dekselite@gmail.com. If you think a brawler is rated wrongly, write and say why — the list changes when the argument is good.
How the recommendations are made
There is no AI model deciding your picks. The assistant runs a rule-based score entirely inside your browser, on your device. Nothing about your draft is sent anywhere.
Each suggestion is scored on five things:
- Role counters. What the enemy has already taken, and which role answers it. An anti-tank scores high once a tank is on the board, and low when there is nothing to punish.
- Tier. Where the brawler sits in the current meta, as a baseline rather than a verdict.
- Map type. Open or closed. This decides whether throwers and snipers are strong or dead weight, and whether an assassin can reach anything.
- The role your team still needs. Three damage dealers lose to one tank. The score pushes you to cover the gap rather than stack what you already have.
- Bans. What has been removed changes which answers remain available.
Where the data comes from
Brawler names, portraits, gadgets, star powers and map rotations come from the public Brawl Stars API and the community Brawlify API. Player statistics, if you choose to enter a player tag, come from Supercell's official API.
Tier placements and the written guides are editorial. They are one player's reading of the meta, informed by patch notes and by watching what wins, not a statistical win-rate dump. That is a deliberate choice and also a limitation — see below.
What this tool cannot do
Being honest about the limits matters more than sounding confident:
- It does not know how well you personally play a brawler. A tier C brawler you have mastered beats a tier S brawler you have never touched.
- It does not track live win rates across millions of matches. Placements are judgement calls, and judgement calls are sometimes wrong.
- It lags behind balance patches. After a big update, give it a few days.
- It reads the map as open or closed, not tile by tile. Two maps in the same category can still play very differently.
- It cannot see your teammates' intentions. Communication still wins games.
Cost and advertising
The site is free and has no paid tier. It is funded by advertising, which is why you may see ads on these pages. Ads never influence tier placements or recommendations.
