Hank — Brawl Stars draft guide
Where Hank sits in the current ranked meta, the build to run, and how to use them in a draft.
Draft verdict
Weak in the current meta. Pick only if you know exactly why.
Draft role: Tank, Control. Pick Hank when the draft needs that slot filled.
Kit
Balloon Blast
A charge-hold attack — the longer you hold before releasing, the larger the balloon and the higher the damage, up to one of the highest single-shot values in the Epic tier at max charge.
Fish Torpedo
Fires a wide spread of torpedoes that damage every enemy they touch, useful for hitting groups or denying an area even when it doesn't land a full hit. Charges from landing Balloon Blast hits (higher-charge hits charge it faster).
Build
Gadgets
Waterballoons (recommended default — slows all enemies hit by the next Balloon Blast, extending their exposure for follow-up damage), Barricade (temporary damage shield, better for Heist/Siege defense).
Star powers
It's Gonna Blow (recommended default — movement speed boost above 80% charge, turning the vulnerable charge window into a pursuit tool), Take Cover! (reduced damage near walls, better for wall-heavy/defensive maps).
Recommended build
Waterballoons gadget + It's Gonna Blow star power; upgrade to Power Level 9 before prioritizing gadgets/star powers.
How to play Hank
- Hold the attack, don't tap — even a 50% charge beats minimum-charge tap-firing.
- Use Fish Torpedo for area denial even without a guaranteed hit; it forces enemies out of position.
- Pre-charge Balloon Blast before entering a contested zone so you arrive ready to fire.
- Strong synergy with Willow (Hex freezes a target for a guaranteed full-charge shot) and Doug (heals him through frontline holds).
- Countered hard by Colette (percentage damage punishes his high HP) and by long-range pokers like Piper/Brock who can punish the charge window.
- Best modes: Gem Grab and Hot Zone; weakest in Solo Showdown.
